A Frenchman, whose identity is not known, is reported to have won $85 million on Donald Trump's triumph in betting after the November 5 presidential election.
The Frenchman nicknamed Theo invested $30 million in cryptocurrencies on Polymarket and in the early hours of Wednesday morning almost tripled it with Trump's return to the White House, taking back a whopping $85 million.
In general, about 3.7 billion dollars have been bet on the outcome of the presidential elections in Polymarket.
The eleven accounts used by Theo were brought to the attention of French gambling regulators by bosses and suspicions were raised of an attempt to influence the outcome of the vote.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal before the results, Theo insisted he had absolutely no political agenda and that he had bet on Trump because he was convinced the polls had underestimated him.
