Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that peace with the US depends on the Lebanese front.
Iranian President Masoud Pesekian has accused Israel of a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement with the US, warning that "our hands will remain on the trigger."
He warned that peace with the US depends on the Lebanese front.
"The renewed attack by the Zionist regime against Lebanon constitutes a clear violation of the original ceasefire agreement. This is a dangerous sign of deception and lack of commitment to a possible agreement. Continuing these actions will make negotiations meaningless. Our hands will remain on the trigger. Iran will never abandon its Lebanese brothers and sisters," he wrote in X.
Israel is waging a fierce bombing campaign against Lebanon, where over 200 people have been killed in the last few hours alone. The campaign has provoked strong reactions from both Iran and several European countries, which are demanding an immediate ceasefire in this country as well.
The last few hours have been devastating for Lebanon, as Israel has launched its most ferocious wave of bombing, both in Hezbollah's stronghold of Beirut and in the south of the country. The spread of militants across the capital has prompted the Israeli military to expand its strikes, hitting densely populated areas.
Wednesday marked the bloodiest day since the campaign began, with over 200 dead in a single day. The massacre forced the government to declare April 9 a day of national mourning, while the number of displaced people has exceeded the alarming figure of 1.1 million people.
Calls for a ceasefire have increased from Paris to Ankara. French President Emmanuel Macron said he spoke by phone with Iran's leader, during which they agreed that an immediate ceasefire is needed for Lebanon as well. Turkey strongly condemned what it called an "Israeli occupation."
On the other hand, Israel remains steadfast. Prime Minister Netanyahu has declared that the fight against Hezbollah will not stop and that the army will not withdraw from southern Lebanon until a complete security zone is established. International analysts remain skeptical, noting that Netanyahu's strategy is leading the region towards an insecurity where Hezbollah cannot be disarmed simply by air power.
Netanyahu also said that he had reached an agreement with America on a ceasefire, but that they remain ready at any moment if necessary to intervene, as he said, "with their finger on the trigger."
"Iran today is a weaker country than ever before. The state of Israel has achieved extraordinary things, things that until recently seemed completely unattainable. Iran is weaker than ever. Israel is stronger than ever. This is the essence of the campaign so far. We are ready to return to war at any time, if necessary, with our finger on the trigger." The temporary ceasefire was agreed with Israel; the Americans did not surprise us at the last moment. This is not the end of the war, but a step on the path to achieving all our objectives. If we had not launched operations against Iran, it would have long since possessed nuclear weapons and thousands of missiles to destroy Israel and threaten our very existence. We have set the terrorist regime back years. The enriched material will be removed from Iran, whether through an agreement or through the resumption of fighting. Israel and the United States agree on this point," the Israeli prime minister said.
