US Navy drones monitor the Strait of Hormuz

A US Navy drone was seen tracking flights over the Strait of Hormuz today.

The Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton took off from Sigonella Air Base in Sicily. The US Navy has a presence at the Italian air base.

Flightradar24 data shows it spent more than two hours over the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has reportedly closed maritime traffic in the strait in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon yesterday.

Iran's maritime organization has also warned of "possible collisions with naval mines."

Meanwhile, five bulk carriers and no oil or gas tankers passed through the strait yesterday, according to marine tracking data from Kpler.

US President Donald Trump has said that the US military will remain in the Middle East and warned that if a deal is not reached with Iran, "the shooting will start, bigger, better and stronger than anyone has ever seen before."

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the US military presence was "appropriate and necessary for the lethal prosecution and destruction of an already significantly degraded enemy."

He ended the message by claiming that the US is "loading up" and "eagerly awaiting" the next "attack."

Otherwise, one of the conditions of Iran's published 10-point plan was the removal of American forces from the region.

The White House said the plan had been "rejected by President Trump" and was "fundamentally frivolous." In the 24 hours since Trump announced that the US would suspend strikes on Iran, uncertainty has grown over whether the temporary ceasefire will hold.

Israel launched a major wave of attacks in Lebanon yesterday, killing more than 250 people.

Both Israel and the US insist that Lebanon is not included in the ceasefire agreement, while Iran and Pakistan disagree.

In retaliation for the Israeli attacks, Hezbollah, the Iran-backed group based in Lebanon, said it had fired rockets into northern Israel, citing "ceasefire violations."
