Aleksandar Vucic is seen as the all-powerful autocrat of the Balkans who praises bloodbathers like Vladimir Putin and brutal dictators like China's Xi Jinping, as Berlin and Brussels are seriously considering bringing him into the EU.
Today Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called his 6.8 million Serbs to the polls. Vucic announced the parliamentary elections two years after winning them! A typical move for the thin man (1.99 cm), who has already served as a minister under the nation's butcher and war criminal Slobodan Milosevic and is considered Russia's governor in the Balkans.
In the interview for BILD, the former Minister of Economy under the leadership of Vucic, Rade Basta explicitly warned the EU about Vucic. Germany and the EU must be honest and admit that Moscow is also sitting at the negotiating table with Vučić, the former minister emphasizes.
According to him, Vucic is deceiving the EU, as the Russian leadership and its mafia have the Balkans under control. Basta warned about what is called Russian influence in the Balkans, and especially in Serbia.
“Germany and the EU must be honest and admit that Moscow is also sitting at the negotiating table with Vucic. He is deceiving the EU. The Russian leadership and its mafia have the Balkans under control, they are endangering stability in the powder keg of the Balkans, and they explicitly aim to destabilize the European Union," he said.
While talking about the integration of Serbia in the EU, Basta says that there is no will in Belgrade.
“There is simply no will in Belgrade to follow European policies and standards when it comes to foreign policy. Not even close. Brussels and Berlin must finally seriously ask themselves who they have been negotiating with in Belgrade for years, mostly without results. Aleksandar Vucic and above all, the people around him are watching from Moscow.
Ultimately, for us in Serbia, but also for our neighbors in the Balkans, everything depends on what Berlin and Brussels want and are prepared to implement. Do you want a democratic Balkans or do you want to continue to watch the entire region degenerate into a Russian mafia colony. For now, their blind policy in the Balkans is ensuring that Moscow is winning. The people of Moscow are operating in Serbia, Albania, Macedonia and Montenegro.
The EU should consider the rapid accession of the Balkans to the EU to counter Russia's malign influence. Germany in particular, as the strongest power in the EU, should have long ago recognized that it is dealing with a mafia force from Moscow", he says.
For the former minister, Belgrade is a nest of smugglers.
“Serbia is one of the most important points of transportation of contraband goods to Russia. Under the eyes and with the knowledge of the authorities, components for the Russian arms industry are also brought to Serbia from Western Europe and then re-declared and sent to Russia bypassing sanctions", he said.
According to Basta, without a really tough and stable policy from Brussels and especially Berlin, Serbia and with it the rest of the Western Balkans will be lost for Europe to Putin and his successors from the mafia and Balkan politics. / Taken with abbreviations from Bild
