Although the "SNS" party of the Serbian president, Aleksandër Vucic, is seen as the most favored to win the elections, it remains to be seen if the united opposition, "Serbia against violence" has managed to upset the balance of power of the latter.
The voting process in Serbia has ended, for the general and local elections. All polling stations were closed around 20:00 and it is expected that the boxes will be delivered to the counting stations soon.
In the last announcement of the Serbian CEC shortly before the closing of the voting process, it was said that about 55.9 percent of citizens with the right to vote had voted by 19:00. However, Serbian media point out that there are still long lines of people waiting to vote.
A little later, it is expected that the chairman of the Electoral Commission will come out with the correct data regarding the participation in these early elections. It is also expected that the counting of votes will start soon, as well as exit polls and the first projections.
It is worth noting that the voting process was not smooth at all, as dozens of irregularities were reported and there were accusations from the opposition of vote buying. In some cases, the opposition has also published videos of people standing in front of polling stations and offering citizens money in exchange for votes.
In a case denounced in Belgrade for irregularities, some members of Republika Srbska did not allow CEC observers to enter the voting center. These elections are decisive for the future orientation of Serbia.
Meanwhile, after the closing of the voting centers, the representative of SPN, Predrag Mirtovic, at the headquarters of the coalition "Serbia against violence" said that they believe in an election victory in the capital of Serbia.
"As for Belgrade, there is every possibility that the coalition "Serbia against violence" take the lead in Belgrade", SPN representative Predrag Mirtovic told reporters.
