Rodolfo Corazzo, an Italian goldsmith, who is known for the long judicial process from which he was acquitted after killing the Albanian robber Valentin Frrokaj, has already been announced as the mayor of the town of Rodano.
The 68-year-old emerged victorious after the election process of June 8 and 9. He was the candidate at the head of a civic list called "Rodano per te" supported by the entire center-right.
Recalling the bloody robbery of the Albanian gang, in an interview for Il Giorno, Corazzo says that he will put security as a priority while running the municipality.
" Since Monday, I have the honor and responsibility to lead the community. What happened to me, I was kidnapped together with my wife and daughter, then 11 years old, at home, threatened with a gun, will not happen again in Rodano. It was a case disconnected from our reality, which will not be repeated. We want to declare war on theft, fortunately they are not related to what happened to us, but what you feel when someone touches things, violates your privacy, is terrible for the citizens ", he says.
As for the event that Corazzo refers to, it happened at the end of November 2015, when Valentin Frokaj, twice escaped from prison, with a murder on the record, together with two other Albanians, learns in the jeweler's villa.
But the robbery of the Albanian gang, turned into a nightmare for about an hour and a half for Corazzo's family, failed after the latter responded with fire to the gunshots. Corazzo was at home with his wife and daughter when Frrokaj and his friends broke in and took gold, jewelry, money and even a gun from the family safe.
" They tried to scare my 11-year-old daughter, they took her upstairs and told her if your father doesn't tell us where the money is, we will cut off his fingers," Corazzo confessed after the incident.
When Corazzo thought he had lost everything, the robbers locked themselves in a room and at that moment he took out his gun and fired to scare them, but Valentini returned fire at the jeweler. During the exchange of fire between them, the Albanian robber received two bullets, and during the escape of the group, Valentini fell to the ground, never to rise again.
After the incident, Rodolfo Corazzo was investigated for excessive self-defense, but after two years the prosecutors' thesis was dismissed and the case against him was dismissed. Now, almost 10 years after that tragic event, Corazzo has become the mayor of his town./ A2CNN
