A small plane made an emergency landing on a US highway after experiencing engine problems during flight. The incident occurred on Interstate 78, in the Allentown area, while the aircraft was traveling from New Jersey to Indiana.
The pilot decided to land on the road to avoid danger in the air. The plane passed over vehicles moving on the highway and touched down on the asphalt without causing an accident.
On board were a 65-year-old pilot and a 34-year-old passenger. Both emerged uninjured. There are no reports of injuries among the drivers of vehicles on the road at the time of the landing.
During the maneuver, the pilot used two lanes of the highway to stabilize the aircraft. The vehicle came to a stop without visible damage and without involving other vehicles.
Emergency services responded immediately and secured the area. The plane was then transported to a nearby airport in Allentown.
US aviation authorities have launched investigations to determine the causes of the technical defect.
