Israel against Trump's deal with Tehran: Iran will use 60-day negotiations

Israeli officials fear that Iran will use a 60-day nuclear negotiation, reportedly part of its deal with the US, to advance its nuclear ambitions and build a nuclear weapon.

This is Israel's concern, according to Israeli broadcaster Channel 12, citing senior officials in Tel Aviv who believe that Iran's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has no intention of reaching a final nuclear deal with the US.

Israeli defense officials also told the channel that Tehran will drag out the process and the 60 days of negotiations will turn into much more.

It is not clear what the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran contains, as both Donald Trump and Iranian officials offer contradictory claims.

The US president insisted at the G7 summit today that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened without tariffs. He also dismissed reports that the deal would require the US to invest money in Iran, calling them "ridiculous."

US Vice President JD Vance said the full agreement could be released before Friday.

Iranian officials have claimed that the deal will allow it to handle the dilution of enriched uranium itself, inside Iran, but Vance said today there would be a path for the involvement of international inspectors.

Experts analyzing the details of the deal have been skeptical, with many suggesting that the Barack Obama-era agreement to limit Iran's nuclear program had more safeguards to stop it from developing a bomb.
