The Russian Embassy in Italy has reacted after the death of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, this morning at the San Raffaele hospital. Through a post on Twitter, the embassy appreciates the figure of the former prime minister as a statesman who has left a mark in the history of Italy in the world and in Italian-Russian relations. 

" We are shocked by the news of the death of Silvio Berlusconi. A great statesman who left a deep mark on the history of Italy, on the world and on Italian-Russian relations. A visionary, a man of great abilities and a big heart Our deepest condolences to the family and friends, the Italian people ," the Russian embassy in Italy wrote in a tweet. 

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, known as 'Cavalieri', has died at the age of 86. He died at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan. Berlusconi, whose name has been embroiled in several sex scandals and corruption allegations, suffered from chronic leukemia. In April he was treated in hospital for a lung infection. A billionaire media mogul, Berlusconi first came to office in 1994 and led four governments until 2011. He led the centre-right Forza Italia party, which entered a coalition under Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni after elections in September, when he was elected to Italy's upper house.
