Elon Musk's revolutionary aerospace company SpaceX made its public market debut today, marking one of the most significant events in U.S. stock market history. SpaceX shares (ticker: SPCX) began trading on the Nasdaq, following a record-breaking IPO that raised more than $75 billion and valued the company at an estimated $1.77-1.8 trillion.

This initial public offering (IPO) is the largest in history, surpassing the previous record set by Saudi Aramco. SpaceX priced the stock at $135 per share, selling about 555.6 million shares. Demand was extremely high, with offerings exceeding $250 billion, including strong participation from individual investors.

Founded in 2002 by Elon Musk, SpaceX has transformed the space industry with reusable rockets like the Falcon 9 and Starship, as well as the Starlink satellite network that now has over 10 million users. Last year, the company reported revenue of about $18.7 billion, but also recorded an operating loss of $4.2 billion due to massive investments in new technologies, including AI and plans for Mars.

The IPO makes Musk the owner of two trillion-dollar public companies (alongside Tesla) and could catapult him into the world's first trillionaire, thanks to his roughly 42% stake in SpaceX. More than 4,400 of the company's employees are expected to become millionaires thanks to stock options.

In early trading, shares reportedly rose about 30%, reaching near $175, reflecting the great enthusiasm of investors. Analysts such as those at Oppenheimer see potential for growth to $190, but there is also criticism of the high valuation and current losses.

Senator Elizabeth Warren and some analysts have raised questions about the fixed price and the risks of an inflated valuation, but enthusiasm prevails, boosting other space sector stocks as well. This historic debut not only opens a new chapter for SpaceX, but also for the space economy, drawing global attention to innovations in rockets, satellites and artificial intelligence. Investors can now buy SPCX shares through any standard U.S. brokerage.
