Lobbying bears fruit for Dodik, US removes him from 'blacklist';

For Dodik, this type of lobbying seems to have had an effect, while Berisha on the other hand, despite having spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in the US lobbying Donald Trump, we have not yet seen any movement from the US.

The United States has removed former Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik and Bosnian Presidency member Zelja Cvijanovic from its sanctions list, the Treasury Department announced on Wednesday.

The list of sanctioned individuals and companies, known as the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List, previously included members of Milorad Dodik's family, as well as numerous companies allegedly linked to him, including Alternative Television (ATV), Fruit Eco, Agape, Global Liberty and other business entities.

In addition to Milorad Dodik and Željka Cvijanović, other Republika Srpska officials were also removed from the list, including Alen Seranić, Dragan Stanković, Petar Đokić, Pero Bukejlović, Nenad Stevandić, Radovan Višković, Siniša Karar.

All of these individuals had previously been placed on the sanctions list due to their closeness to Milorad Dodik and the undemocratic moves made by the government in Republika Srpska.

OFAC's decision stated that the changes and updates to the list were undertaken in accordance with current regulations and that this change allows for the release of assets and transactions that were previously blocked by sanctions.

Milorad Dodik has been under US sanctions since 2017, when he was sanctioned for "obstructing the Dayton Peace Agreement". The sanctions were extended to 2022 and 2023, covering charges of corruption, undermining the constitutional order of BiH and misuse of public resources. They include financial measures and a ban on cooperation with US entities.

Like Albanian opposition leader Sali Berisha, Milorad Dodik of Republika Srpska has signed several lobbying contracts with American companies that they consider close to the Donald Trump administration, to influence the lifting of sanctions and 'non-gratas' from Washington.

Both Berisha and Dodik have paid the well-known American lobbyist Paul Manafort, who was released from prison a few months ago after receiving a pardon from US President Donald Trump.

It was precisely this action that prompted Berisha and Dodik to hire Manafort as a lobbyist for their 'problems'. For Dodik, this type of lobbying seems to have had an effect, while Berisha on the other hand, despite having spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in the US lobbying Donald Trump, has yet to see any movement from the US./ Pamphlet
