Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, during which they discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and rising tensions in the region, the Iranian Tasnim news agency reported on Sunday.
According to the report, the two leaders exchanged views on the security situation and the risks of escalating conflict in the region, at a time when tensions between Iran on the one hand and the United States and Israel on the other remain high.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called on countries around the world to avoid any actions that could lead to further escalation of the war, following US calls to ensure the security of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a key corridor for global energy trade.
In an interview with the Arab portal Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, Araghchi warned that the conflict will not end until Iran is sure that such a situation cannot be repeated in the future.
His statements reflect Tehran's position that any solution to the conflict must include strong guarantees for Iran's security and to avoid a new escalation in the region.
