US President Donald Trump has said that Iran has agreed to allow 20 oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, describing the development as a "gift" in negotiations between the two countries.
According to him, Tehran had initially approved the passage of a more limited number of ships, but then increased this number to 20, which are expected to begin the passage from Monday onwards.
Trump stressed that this decision was approved by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, interpreting it as a positive signal for the progress of the talks. However, harsh rhetoric continues from the Iranian side. Ghalibaf warned that Iranian forces are ready to face any ground intervention by the US, accusing Washington of secret military preparations.
At the same time, tensions in the Middle East have had a direct impact on international energy markets. Oil prices have risen sharply, with Brent exceeding $115 per barrel, as the conflict enters its fifth week.
The situation has been further exacerbated by the involvement of Houthi rebels in Yemen, who have launched missile attacks on Israel, raising concerns about disruptions to global energy supplies.
The Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's main oil shipping arteries, remains a flashpoint, as about 20% of global energy supply passes through it. Despite signs of partial easing, the situation remains volatile.
Trump also stated that one of the main US options is to "take Iranian oil", comparing it to previous US interventions in other producing countries.
Meanwhile, reports of ongoing attacks in the region and a growing threat to energy infrastructure could further deepen the global crisis. International authorities have called for a de-escalation of tensions, while energy markets and importing countries remain on alert for future developments.
