Donald Trump's former advisor also mentions historical references and criticizes US allies for "double standards"
Former close advisor to former US President Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, stated that Arab countries, especially the Gulf monarchies, should take a leading role in the event of a possible ground operation against Iran.
During his “War Room” podcast, Bannon stressed that Gulf elites should make up the “first wave” of such an intervention, including members of the royal families. He questioned their willingness for direct military involvement, suggesting that some of them should serve on the ground.

Bannon also criticized some of the United States' traditional allies, accusing them of profiting from American engagement. He cited Israel, Arab countries and Europe as actors who, he said, are "playing games" with the United States while Washington continues to send troops to the region.
In his statements, he drew a historical comparison, referring to the campaign of Alexander the Great. "We will do what Alexander the Great did 2,300 years ago," Bannon said, without providing specific details about this analogy.
He added that if such an operation were to be carried out, Arab countries would have to be on the front lines. Bannon also mentioned specific targets in Iran and the role that regional allies could play, suggesting, among other things, an intervention on Kharg Island by the United Arab Emirates.
His statements came a day after Donald Trump gave a speech at an investment conference in Florida, funded by Saudi Arabia, where he mocked Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
