The International Red Cross has received the remains of an Israeli hostage killed in the Gaza Strip, which were handed over by Hamas on Thursday evening.
The Israeli military (IDF) said the remains are being transported to Israeli forces in Gaza, while medical teams and authorities are urgently working on the full identification and return of the body to Israel.
This is happening as part of a small prisoner exchange, which is expected to conclude around 8:00 p.m. local Gaza time.
Earlier, Hamas announced that the Al-Quds Brigades and Izz ad-Din al-Qassam had found the body of this "prisoner of war" today in the Moraj area, north of Khan Yunis, and would hand it over as a gesture of charity.
Currently, according to official data, four Israeli hostages remain in the hands of the militants: Meny Godard, Ran Gvili, Dror Or and Sudthisak Rinthalak. This development comes amid tense mediation negotiations for the release of all hostages and a lasting ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas, which has lasted for over two years.
