An investigation has revealed that Vladimir Putin has exact copies of his offices in different regions of Russia to hide his location and thwart potential attacks.
Three identical rooms in separate apartments have been exposed in a report by the Systema investigative unit.
The meetings reported by the Kremlin to have taken place at Putin's official residence in Novo-Ogaryovo, just outside Moscow, were actually held hundreds of miles away.

One office is in Sochi on the Black Sea and another on his vast forest estate in Valdai, a lakeside town halfway between Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Investigators from Systema analyzed 700 videos and reviewed leaked travel records from Putin's entourage to determine where he has been "hiding from the public eye."

They identified subtle changes in the interior decor of each location to determine the president's true location.
In a Kremlin propaganda broadcast from 2020, a state television journalist enters through a door and appears to be heading to a press conference.

But Russian viewers may not have noticed that the two rooms were in completely different cities.
The illusion was discovered when investigators noticed that the height of the door handle varied, revealing that the footage had been recorded in two locations.

Other clues include the height of the wall behind Putin's desk and minor changes in furniture and fixtures - from the shape of a TV stand and the color of a table to the number of air vents in the ceiling and the position of a thermostat.
