Two disappearances under similar circumstances and three suspicious deaths of aerospace experts are raising serious concerns and questions about possible links between them. The case has taken on major proportions, as it involves advanced technology, classified programs and claims of links to unidentified aerial phenomena (UFOs).
According to international media reports, retired US Air Force General William Neil McCasland, 68, and NASA aerospace engineer Monica Jacinto Reza, 60, had collaborated professionally on an advanced material called "Mondaloy", a nickel-based superalloy for rocket engines, developed in the 1990s.
Monica Reza disappeared on June 22, 2025, while hiking in Angeles National Park, California, with two other people. Eight months later, on February 27, 2026, McCasland also disappeared from his apartment in Albuquerque, New Mexico. According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, he left with only a backpack and a gun, without taking his phone or wallet.
McCasland's disappearance came just six days after President Donald Trump announced the release of documents related to UFOs and extraterrestrial life. Media reports suggest he was involved in sensitive programs at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, a site often mentioned in theories about suspected remains from the 1947 Roswell incident.
Tennessee Congressman Tim Burchett, quoted by the Daily Mail, calls McCasland's disappearance a "significant national security issue," noting that he had knowledge of nuclear programs and advanced technologies. Burchett also confirms that Reza worked on specialized materials for missile technology.
In the same period, three other scientists have lost their lives under different circumstances. Physicist Nuno Loureiro was killed on December 15, 2025, in his home in the suburbs of Boston by a former classmate. Astrophysicist Carl Grillmair was killed on February 16, 2026, in his apartment, while police have not confirmed whether it was a targeted attack. Meanwhile, the remains of Jason Thomas, a leader in the field of chemical biology at the company Novartis, were found on March 17 in a lake in Massachusetts.
The three scientists worked in advanced fields such as plasma physics, astrophysics, and drug development, while some of their projects are related to energy and advanced scientific research.
Media reports point out that, although suspicions and theories have been raised regarding possible links between the cases, authorities have not confirmed a direct link between the disappearances and deaths.
