The Secretary General of the military alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, said today that NATO should not underestimate Russia and its military capabilities to continue attacking Ukraine.
During a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, the official assessed that the war in Eastern Europe has reduced Russia's influence, made it more dependent on China and cost it a significant part of its conventional forces.
"All this points to Putin's strategic mistake in invading Ukraine. At the same time, however, we should not underestimate Russia. The Russian economy is in a state of war, Putin has a high tolerance for losses, and Russian goals in Ukraine have not changed," Stoltenberg emphasized.
As winter approaches, the NATO chief said Russia has amassed a large stockpile of missiles aimed at striking Ukraine's energy infrastructure. According to Stoltenberg, Russia will leave Ukraine in the dark and in the cold this winter as well.
