Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he has spoken with US President-elect Donald Trump three times in recent days.
He emphasized that the talks focused on deepening cooperation between the two countries and on the "Iranian threat" to Israel's security, Netanyahu's office said on Sunday.
"In the last few days, I have talked three times with President-elect Donald Trump... about deepening the strong alliance between Israel and the USA. We agree on the Iranian threat in every aspect ," Netanyahu said, according to his office.
Washington is Israel's main ally and biggest military backer. The US election was held at a critical time for the Middle East, where Israel is waging war in Gaza and Lebanon.
Analysts believe that Netanyahu had hoped for Trump's return to the White House, knowing the close personal friendship between them, as well as seeing the former president's stance against Israel's sworn enemy, Iran.
During his first term, Trump moved the US Embassy to Jerusalem, recognized Israel's sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, and helped Israel normalize relations with several Arab states based on the so-called Abraham Accords.
