Reuters publishes Tehran's conditions, from Hormuz to the nuclear program
New details emerge from Iran's latest proposal for a peace deal with the United States, as negotiations remain fragile and tensions high.
According to Reuters, citing a senior Iranian official, Tehran's plan includes five main elements: ending the war with guarantees that Israel and the US will not attack Iran again; reopening the Strait of Hormuz; lifting the US blockade; starting talks on the nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions; and Washington's recognition of Iran's right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes , provided that Tehran agrees to suspend the process.
" The idea is to postpone the most complex issue, the nuclear issue, to the final stage to create a more favorable climate for an agreement ," the Iranian official said.
Earlier, the state news agency IRNA reported that Iran had conveyed this proposal to the US through Pakistani intermediaries, after direct negotiations had stalled.
The two sides reached a ceasefire on April 8, 2026, but efforts to reach a lasting agreement have run into difficulties. The new proposal comes at a delicate moment as the parties seek a long-term solution.
Meanwhile, recent days have been marked by mutual threats. The US and Israel have warned of the possibility of new attacks if negotiations fail, while Iran has accused Washington of the blockade and warned of retaliation if it is not lifted.
The US response is expected to determine whether the process will advance towards an agreement or whether tensions will escalate again. / Pamphlet
