From Greece to Estonia, the Senate confirms the appointment of 15 new US

The United States Senate is moving forward with the simultaneous confirmation of dozens of Trump administration nominees, following a rule change that allows for approval of nominees in groups instead of a separate vote on each one.

Republicans managed to overcome a key hurdle in the process, and now the final vote is scheduled for Thursday.

According to American media, among the nominees is Kimberly Guilfoyle, who will be the US ambassador to Athens.

According to the US Senate announcement, along with Guilfoyle, the "package" also includes other ambassadors, such as Callista Gingrich for Switzerland and Liechtenstein, as well as a number of senior leaders in federal agencies.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee considered 36 nominees, including high-profile candidates such as former national security adviser Michael Waltz for U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and White House Chief of Staff Sergio Gore for ambassador to India.

Republicans argue that the rule change was necessary, accusing Democrats of deliberate delays. On the other hand, the opposition accuses President Trump of "violating" parliamentary procedures.

The foreign affairs panel in May endorsed five nominees for diplomatic posts despite a boycott by Democrats. It was a notable change for the committee, which has long been known for its bipartisan orientation.

For example, the committee oversaw the unanimous confirmation in January of then-Senator Marco Rubio as Trump's secretary of state.
