
The Director-General of the World Health Organization has sounded the alarm about the situation in Gaza. He said hospitals are on the verge of collapse, as there are a high number of people seeking help.
"The injured and people with disabilities cannot move to safety, which puts their lives at serious risk. Hospitals, already overwhelmed, are on the verge of collapse, while increasing violence is blocking access and preventing WHO from distributing life-saving supplies," Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told WHO.

The head of the WHO said that many patients are trapped in dangerous areas, with no possibility of treatment or evacuation.
According to Ghebreyesus, hospitals in Gaza are already filled beyond capacity and under extreme pressure, while shortages of fuel, medicines and personnel are accelerating the collapse of the health system.
"The increasing violence is blocking access to affected areas and preventing WHO from distributing vital supplies ," he added.
