Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked to pay a solidarity visit in the wake of the Hamas attack on Israel, but was reportedly told it was "not the right time".
Zelensky issued a strong defense of Israel after the attack, saying Israel had an indisputable right to defend itself from attacks by Palestinian terrorists.
" Terror is always a crime, not only against a country or specific victims, but against humanity as a whole. The world must stay united... so that terror does not try to take or destroy life anywhere and at any moment ," said Zelensky.
Israel has repeatedly expressed support for Ukraine since Russian forces invaded Ukraine in February last year, but has not offered military aid, causing diplomatic tensions between Kiev and Jerusalem. Israel has been reluctant to antagonize Moscow, which has a large military presence in Syria.
