A tragic event has shaken the Longos area of Aigio, Greece, where a 54-year-old mother and her 26-year-old son were found murdered inside their apartment. Greek authorities are investigating the case as a double homicide, while the information so far is leading the investigation to the crime scene.
According to information published by the Greek media Protothema, the victims were found in a pool of blood inside the house. The body of the 26-year-old was discovered on the bed in his room. Preliminary examination showed that he had received a head wound from a Flobert-type air gun and was then stabbed several times.
His mother was found dead near the entrance to the room. According to the forensic doctor who arrived at the scene, in addition to the knife wounds, she also had defensive injuries to her body, which indicates that she had tried to resist the perpetrator before losing her life.
Investigators suspect that the perpetrator first shot the 26-year-old in the head with an air gun and then stabbed him to death. It is believed that the noise of the attack alerted his mother, who went to see what was happening and then became the second victim of the attack.
A 65-year-old Italian citizen, the partner of the 54-year-old woman, is being questioned as the main suspect in the crime. He denies any involvement in the incident and claims that he woke up and found both of them dead inside the apartment. According to his statements, he then asked for help through a neighbor and notified the authorities.
During the search of the apartment, police found an air gun and a knife hidden in a vase in the yard. The objects have been seized and will undergo an examination to determine whether they were used in the crime.
Meanwhile, residents of the area are shocked by the incident. They say they had not heard any noises or conflicts in the apartment and that they had not noticed any signs that could warn of such a situation. According to them, the only thing they knew was that the 54-year-old had heart health problems and had recently traveled to Italy with her partner for medical reasons.
