A devastating tornado struck Perryton, Texas, Thursday evening, leaving at least three people dead, two missing and 56 injured, according to the Ochiltree County Sheriff's Office.
Perryton Fire Chief Paul Dutcher said the number of injured could be as many as 100 people. Injuries range from minor to severe, and multiple patients have been transferred to trauma centers, Dutcher said.
The north and east sides of the small town had significant damage, with trailer homes destroyed and communications towers down, Dutcher told ABC News. One fatality has been confirmed and more than 75 people are being treated at a local hospital, he said.
Dutcher said the confirmed fatality is from a trailer home and multiple agencies are on the scene responding to the tornado.
