"I didn't hear what you were saying!"/ Trump puts Zuckerberg in

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he had no idea how to respond to a question from Donald Trump during a dinner hosted at the White House.

At a meeting on Thursday, some of the most important figures in technology gathered, including Tim Cook, Bill Gates, Sergey Brin, Sundar Pichai and Sam Altman.

Trump asked Zuckerberg how much he planned to invest in the US by 2028 and the Meta CEO responded uncertainly: "Oh my God, I, I think it's probably going to be something like, I don't know, at least $600 billion by '28, in the US, yeah."

Trump said the amount was large, and Zuckerberg agreed: "Yes, yes, it's significant."

Later during the dinner, Zuckerberg apologized and said he was unprepared for the question, saying, “ I wasn’t sure about the number you wanted to use .” Trump laughed and told Melania that Zuckerberg was unprepared.

Other embarrassing moments for Zuckerberg included an off-the-cuff response to a question about UK freedom of expression law, where the CEO admitted he "wasn't paying attention."

At the same dinner, other tech leaders revealed their investment plans in the U.S.: Google plans to invest $250 billion, while Apple plans to invest $600 billion. Cook thanked Trump for creating the conditions for key investments and manufacturing in the U.S., saying: “I want to thank you that we can make a major investment in the United States and have key manufacturing here. I think that speaks volumes about your leadership and your focus on innovation.”

The meeting was a gathering of Silicon Valley's elite, with 13 billionaires in attendance, which followed a summit hosted by the first lady on artificial intelligence in education. The dinner was originally scheduled to be held in the Rose Garden, but was moved to the State Dinner due to rain.

Trump began the dinner by praising the attendees, calling the group “very high IQ,” while tech leaders took the opportunity to praise them. Even former critics like Bill Gates and Sam Altman thanked the president, with Altman saying, “I think it will put us on top of the world for a long time, and it wouldn’t have happened without your leadership.”

The previous head of the Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk, known as "First Buddy", did not attend the meeting.
