A video circulating widely on social media shows the moments when former French President Nicolas Sarkozy becomes the target of threats from his fellow prisoners, despite the security measures taken against him.
In the footage, prisoners can be heard shouting, insulting and threatening Sarkozy, calling him by name at night with the aim of not letting him sleep.
Just a day earlier, three prisoners were detained after another video was released, also containing threats against the former president.
The Paris prosecutor's office has confirmed the seizure of two mobile phones and has opened an investigation into threats to the life of Nicolas Sarkozy, who is being investigated by French police.
