The last conversation of the pilot of the "Embrear" plane with the tower, before it crashed in Kazakhstan on Christmas Day, is revealed. 38 people died in the accident. The pilot claims that there was a bird strike, but from the markings in the cockpit there are doubts that it may have been shot from below.
Dialogue between the pilot and the control tower:
Pilot : Both GPSs lost. We need directions to return to the airport of departure in Baku.
Pilot : We lost control, collision with birds in the cabin. Crash in the cabin (unintelligible)…
Control Tower: “AXY8243, understood. What kind of help do you need?'
Pilot : "We will return to Baku"
But at 8:17 a.m., the pilot announced that he was "going to Mineralnye Vody" — an airfield in southern Russia:
Pilot : "I'm going to Mineralnye Vody".
Control Tower: "Turn left".
Pilot : "Cannot execute, control lost!"
Pilot : "I can't maintain 150 (speed knots). We have high pressure in the cabin".
Control Tower: “AXY8243, understood.”
Pilot: "360 degree left turn, we're losing control."
Pilot : "We will go to Makhachkala". (a Russian airfield on the Caspian Sea)
Pilot : "Now we have a hydraulic problem."
Pilot : "We have not declared a state of emergency".
Control Tower: "We can barely hear… how tall are you?"
The plane then disappeared from radar for 37 minutes before making its final attempt to land.
