The Spanish government has officially announced the dismissal of its ambassador to Israel, Ana Salomon, at a time when diplomatic relations between Madrid and Tel Aviv remain tense.
The diplomat had held this post since 2021, but in September 2025 she was summoned to Madrid for consultations, following the deterioration of relations between the two countries.
Diplomatic tensions deepened especially after Spain's decision to officially recognize the state of Palestine, a step taken in April two years ago that was sharply criticized by the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The decision to dismiss Salomon became official after being published in the Spanish Official Gazette. The measure had been previously approved through a resolution of the Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the Spanish Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares.
The final decree bears the signature of King Felipe VI and also includes a note thanking the diplomat for her "services" during her time leading the diplomatic mission in Israel.
