French President Emmanuel Macron has urged Kiev's allies to "step up" and show "courage", days after he faced backlash for openly discussing sending troops to Ukraine.
"We are certainly approaching a moment in our Europe where it would be appropriate not to be a coward," Emmanuel Macron told French immigrants living in Prague.
According to foreign media, he said that France and the Czech Republic were "aware that the war has returned to our soil [in Europe], that some powers that have become unstoppable are daily expanding their threat to attack us even more and that we will have to live up to history and the courage it requires".
He did not elaborate on what that means.
Macron faced criticism from some allies after suggesting Western troops could be sent to Ukraine during a conference last month.
French officials later said the president had intended to stir up debate and that the ideas included non-combat troops in roles such as demining, border protection or training Ukrainian forces.
