A student protest in Athens against the draft law that will allow the establishment of branches of foreign universities in Greece has degenerated into violence on Friday afternoon.
Television cameras have recorded shocking images from the square in front of the parliament in the capital, where several students have been injured as a result of police violence.
The incidents happened for no reason when most of the students arrived outside the parliament, while inside the debate still continues between the deputies of the party in power and those of the opposition who express themselves against this draft law.
The tension reached its peak when the special police forces fired tear gas and brutally beat several dozen students.
At least eight students were injured as shown by the photos and videos with their bloody faces, which are making the rounds of local and foreign media, while several ambulances have taken them to the hospital to give first aid.
According to information from the police, more than 10 people were escorted and 3 students were arrested.
The participation of students in the protests has been massive throughout the day, while they have declared that despite the incidents they are determined to stay outside the parliament until the vote is taken to approve the draft law.
