Student protest for the Albanian language, Prime Minister Mickoski meets with
Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski

The Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, held a meeting this Monday with the co-chairs of VLEN, Bilall Kasami and Izet Mexhiti, where the issue of the use of languages during the bar exam was discussed.

According to media in North Macedonia, the parties agreed that education and knowledge remain the foundation of every modern and successful state.

In this regard, the institutions committed to finding solutions that are in full compliance with the Constitution and the Law on the Use of Languages, with the aim of guaranteeing legal certainty and institutional functionality.

Today, at 4:30 PM, Albanian students will protest in front of the Stone Bridge in Skopje for conducting the law exam in their native language.

"Unite with the students, all together,"  is the slogan of the protest, which has as its message the protection of the right to language for professional exams.

The first student protest was held in Skopje on April 6 and ended in front of the Ministry of Justice, but since then no one has changed from the government to fulfill a right of Albanians that stems from the Ohrid Agreement.

Their action takes on an even deeper political meaning, raising a discussion about the dignified representation of Albanians in a country where they are a state-forming element, even at a time when vlen Albanians are also in co-government.
