On May 11, Albanians can vote for candidates on open lists, which means that candidates must secure direct support from citizens to win a seat in parliament.
These candidates are meeting citizens and trying to win votes... while others seem to be enjoying spring in complete peace, given that their seats have been secured by the mayors.
A look at social media shows that the candidates on the safe lists have not had any field meetings in the last week.
From the opposition:
• Edi Paloka – 0 meetings
• Jozefina Topalli – 0 meetings
• Fatmir Mediu – 0 meetings
• Erisa Xhixho – 0 meetings
• Mesila Doda – 0 meetings
From the PS:
• Adea Pirdeni – 0 meetings
• Igli Hasani – 0 meetings
• Iris Luarasi – 0 meetings
• Ilva Gjuzi – 0 meetings
These names apparently either haven't yet realized that the campaign has started, or they trust the party's brand so much that they don't feel compelled to bother with meetings, VNA writes.
Or maybe the strategy is simple: to expect citizens to vote for them out of nostalgia, habit, or because they haven't heard of the other candidates?
