French President Emmanuel Macron said that “Russia cannot impose conditions on the 30-day ceasefire.” During a bilateral meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris on the eve of the Coalition of the Willing summit, he said that Russia is showing a willingness to continue the war.
Macron also announced a 2 billion euro military aid package for Ukraine. Regarding sanctions against Russia, the French president called for them to be strengthened as long as the occupation continues.
He added that this assistance should directly respond to the priority needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, a senior aide to President Volodymyr Zelensky told AFP that Ukraine needs a "serious" contribution from Europe in the form of combat-ready troops, rather than peacekeepers, after the end of hostilities with Russia.
