A right-wing Italian newspaper provoked an outcry after announcing Italy's first female prime minister as 'man of the year'.
'Libero' published Giorgia Meloni on the cover with the title: "Uomo dell`anno".
This article was not well received by both political opponents and women's rights activists, who have accused Prime Minister Meloni of not doing enough to protect women from violence for regressing their role in society.
"We have chosen someone who has shown that he knows how to fight. Giorgia Meloni for Libero is the 'man of the year' because above all he has eradicated the war of the sexes by winning it, thinking differently, being divergent, overcoming the arrogance of men and the defeat of women. She has not only broken the glass ceiling, she has dissolved it," the article says.
Meloni himself, so far, has not commented on the article of 'Libero'.
