Ukraine has called on the international community to respond to Vladimir Putin's threats to hit government targets in Kiev.
The Russian leader said today that Moscow is picking targets in Ukraine that could include decision-making centers in Kiev in response to Ukraine's firing of Western missiles into Russian territory.
The attacks launched by Moscow have so far not hit government buildings in the Ukrainian capital, which is heavily defended by air defenses.
" We expect that those countries that have asked everyone to avoid the expansion of the war, will react to the statements made by Putin today ", said the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi.
He called Putin's rhetoric "blackmail" aimed at discouraging Kiev's partners and testing US President-elect Donald Trump, who has vowed to seek a quick end to the conflict without specifying how.
" Putin is obviously trying to influence the new American administration with these statements and he is trying to basically show that this new administration is weak ," concluded Tykhyi.
