French President Emmanuel Macron has stressed that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remains a priority issue for international actors.
"The priority is the peaceful and coordinated reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, along with monitoring and transparency," Macron said during his speech on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit.
He also said that the situation requires increased attention in the economic aspect, warning of possible interventions in case of market abuses.
"If there are excessive profits or speculative behavior, Europeans will have to react , " the French president declared.
The statements come amid rising tensions in the Gulf region, where the Strait of Hormuz is considered a key hub for global oil and gas transportation.
