Journalist Artan Hoxha has criticized the 4.2 million euro financing of the artist Kanye West concert, stating that this fund could have been used to improve the firefighters' capacities in dealing with fires.
Speaking on the issue, Hoxha said that the government had predicted an economic impact of 100 million euros from the organization of the concert, but he questioned the way this figure was reached. As a comparison, he mentioned the concert of the same artist in Madrid, where according to him, the expected economic impact is estimated at around 45 million euros, despite the fact that it is a market with a higher population and standard of living.
According to Hoxha, the day before the fund was approved, he had spoken with fire service employees, who had told him that with 4.2 million euros, firefighting capacities could be significantly improved, without the need to purchase a Canadair aircraft. Hoxha also stated that the firefighters had ironically told him that they had not received the necessary equipment, but free tickets to the concert.
