Spain coach Luis de la Fuente expressed optimism ahead of the clash with France, stressing that his team is ready for the challenge that determines a place in the World Cup final.
"Reaching the semi-finals of a World Cup is extremely difficult. All the opponents are very strong, but we also have a strong team. The road to the final is open," he declared.
In an interview with Cadena Ser, the Spanish coach described France as one of the main contenders for the title, emphasizing that both national teams have evolved since previous encounters.
"Both teams have improved and this match will have nothing to do with what happened in the past," said De la Fuente.
Speaking about the talent Lamine Yamal, the coach said he believes the player has yet to show his best version in this World Cup.
"He is extremely motivated and very eager to show his worth. We just need to help him manage his anxiety a little. He is going through a completely normal process of growth and maturation," he said.
De la Fuente also reserved words of appreciation for captain Rodri, whom he considered a key element of the team.
"He is a very important player, the axis of the team and the best in the world in his position," declared the coach, also highlighting the contribution of Pedro, Fabian Ruiz and Zubimendi in midfield.
As for Nico Williams and Victor Muñoz, who have had physical concerns, De la Fuente assured that both are in good condition and hinted that they could be activated in the match against France.
