The chairman of the Democratic Union for Integration in North Macedonia, Ali Ahmeti, has condemned the kidnapping of Kosovo Police officials by Serbian forces.
He declares that the Serbian side must stop the provocations immediately. Ahmeti writes that he is worried about the tense situation in relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
" I strongly condemn the act of kidnapping of Kosovo policemen today by the special forces of Serbia and I expect their immediate release. The Serbian side must stop the provocations immediately and both sides urgently sit down at the negotiating table and, with the mediation of our allies, the Euro-American community, put an end to the long-standing dispute through mutual recognition. The territorial integrity and sovereignty of Kosovo is inviolable and guaranteed by the international factor ," he said.
He further added that now is the time to take action to preserve peace, regional stability and the European perspective.
The Kosovo police have stated that three border officials have been kidnapped by Serbian forces during a patrol on the border line in the north of Kosovo, while announcing that the police unit has been on duty deep inside the territory of Kosovo to prevent the use of illegal roads.
