The Belgian government intends to move forward with recognizing the state of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly later this month, Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevost announced.
"Palestine will be recognized by Belgium at the UN summit" and at the same time "strict sanctions against the Israeli government" will be announced, Belgian Foreign Minister Prevost stressed via X.
In late July, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that Paris would recognize the Palestinian state at the United Nations General Assembly, which will be held from September 9 to 23 in New York.
More than a dozen other Western countries called on governments around the world that have not yet done so to do so.
