Speculation is mounting about the possibility of an imminent cabinet reshuffle by Rishi Sunak, which could see Suella Braverman sacked as home secretary.
Sources told Sky News that the possibility of a reshuffle has already been discussed. On Sunday night, Braverman doubled down on calls for more action against pro-Palestinian protesters.
In a series of posts on "X", Braverman said further action is needed against the protests, which are taking place on the streets of London... being tainted by hate, violence and anti-Semitism.
The Home Secretary paid tribute to the officers, saying "our brave police officers deserve the thanks of every decent citizen for their professionalism in the face of violence and aggression from protesters and counter-protesters in London yesterday".
It was a stark contrast to last week, when she accused the Metropolitan Police of holding double standards in how it regulates protests.
"The sickening, inflammatory and, in some cases, clearly criminal chants, banners and paraphernalia openly displayed at the march mark a new low. Anti-Semitism and other forms of racism alongside the assessment of terrorism on such a scale is deeply disturbing Braverman said.
Some have accused Braverman of inflaming tensions, leading to more people landing in the capital. More than 140 people were arrested in the riot, both on the pro-Palestinian side and on the far-right side of the protest. Met Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor said the force faced a really challenging day in relation to the protests.
