Europe activates diplomacy: Geneva meeting to stop the flames of the Israel-Iran war
In a significant diplomatic development, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has confirmed that he will meet in Geneva tomorrow with his British, French and German counterparts, as well as the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, the Iranian state news agency IRNA reported.
What does this meeting mean?
The meeting was requested by the three European countries themselves, a signal that Brussels and major Western capitals are trying to contain the escalation between Israel and Iran, which has already crossed the threshold of the Cold War. The talks are likely to focus on restoring an agreement similar to the JCPOA (the 2015 nuclear deal), to avoid a direct confrontation on global scales.
