Riots in France, Mbappe calls on citizens to end the violence

The riots in France seem to have not stopped, people have continued to come out in the streets where, despite the increased police presence, there have been no shortage of acts of violence and vandalism.

Burned cars and looted shops were the panorama that accompanied the preparations of family and friends for the burial of the 17-year-old, whose murder has caused nationwide indignation.

The French government hinted that the protests had begun to die down thanks to tighter security measures, but damage was reported across France and in French territories such as French Guiana, where a 54-year-old man died after being hit by a stray bullet.

In the early hours of this morning, the French interior ministry announced that 994 arrests had been made overnight.

Also France's national soccer team - including international star Kylian Mbappe, an idol for many young people in the most angry neighborhoods - called for an end to the violence.

" Many of us come from working-class neighborhoods, we also share this feeling of pain and sadness ," the footballers said in a statement about the murder of 17-year-old Nahel. " Violence does not solve anything. … There are other peaceful and constructive ways to express yourself .”
