Charities and world leaders are increasing pressure on Israel to allow more aid into Gaza. Recent photos from the war-torn Palestinian enclave make it clear why.
Gaza residents have been struggling to receive cooked food distributed at a community kitchen in the Muwasi area of Khan Younis today. The photos below show that children are among those desperately needing to be fed.

Recall that Israel banned the entry of all humanitarian aid and commercial supplies into the Gaza Strip on March 2, 2025, imposing a total blockade for about 11 weeks, according to UN sources and news reports.

This blockade cut off access to food, water, medicine and medical equipment, worsening the humanitarian crisis and leading to accusations of using starvation as a weapon of war.

On May 19, 2025, following international pressure, Israel eased the blockade, allowing the entry of a limited number of aid trucks, including five UN trucks with baby food and medical supplies, through the Keren Shalom crossing.

Then, on 21 May 2025, it was reported that around 100 additional trucks of flour, baby food and medical supplies had entered Gaza. However, the UN and humanitarian organisations stressed that this aid fell far short of the dire needs of Gaza's 2.1 million residents, where hunger and a lack of medical care continue to endanger the lives of thousands, especially children and the elderly.
