The visit to the hostage area, what "gambling" is the head of Hamas
Yayha Sinwar,

Yayha Sinwar, the 'charismatic' leader of Hamas, and his brother Mohammed, his right-hand man, broke all security protocols. They went down a tunnel to meet some hostages, civilians captured in Israel. 'Number One' spoke Hebrew, a language he learned during his long stay in Israeli prisons, along with knowledge of enemy society.

If the accounts of the freedmen are correct, the informal conversation took place somewhere in the Khan Younis refugee camp, on the southern flank of the Strip. A confirmation and not a surprise. The area has always been considered the operational heart of the Palestinian movement, amid networks of tunnels, relatively safe routes to the Egyptian border, a way out in case leaders are forced to flee. Sinwar and the military leader Mohammed Deif know the streets, the alleys, the neighborhoods because they were born among these houses, a place that over time has turned into a fortress.

Israel has declared that Khan Younis will be the target of the next phase of the offensive, promising to neutralize the entire hierarchical chain of Hamas. Sinwar is aware of the dangers, but by personally checking the conditions of the "prey of war" he wanted to send a clear signal that he could maneuver in a situation of encirclement while the opponents were not far away.

Once the offensive began, the camp was hit less than in the north, but it remained under constant surveillance. First the Israeli drones, then the American ones, monitored the sector for hours and days, patrolling in search of information about the kidnappers and the Mujahideen. The 504 unit of the Jewish military intelligence activated its network together with the Shin Bet, working together, which led to the killing of several cadres, some active in Khan Younis: Tisir Mbasher, commander of the northern sector of the camp, and Midhat Mubashar the official of west side; Hassan al Abdallah, missile unit manager; Yakub Ashur, head of the anti-tank department. Other figures believed to be very close to the top of the pyramid perished in the raid. The result of the work of spies, perhaps aided by some information bought with monetary rewards promised by Israel. In moments of great difficulty there may be someone willing to "talk", especially if they see the possibility of life change. Hamas has taken this into account, in Gaza and abroad, where some collaborators have been discovered.

And Sinar, among the founders in the late 1980s of al Majid, the counter-espionage tasked with eliminating traitors, took this into account even more. A mission to which he resolutely devoted himself in the Belt but above all in Khan Younis. Now the live target may have decided to go elsewhere, to another safe haven, using the truce. Or he remained in his "home yard", the friendly ground from where he dictates the movements of the challenge and increases his prestige.
