Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the slow distribution of weapons is giving Russia a hand to attack its territories.
In a joint briefing with NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg, Zelensky confirmed that some aid had begun to arrive, but added that it needed to be distributed more quickly, to buy time in the face of Russian aggression.
"The Russian military is now trying to take advantage of a situation where we are waiting for supplies from our partners, especially from the United States of America.
And this is precisely the reason why the speed of deliveries means the stabilization of the front", he said.
Stoltenberg added that he was optimistic that handing over the weapons would change the situation.
"Our allies are looking at what more they can do and I expect new announcements soon." So we are working hard to meet the urgent needs of Ukraine," Stoltenberg said.
His comments come after the US approved a few days ago a package of 61 billion dollars of military aid to Kiev.
