After meeting with several EU leaders and the UK Prime Minister, Zelensky continues his European tour to discuss the preservation of sovereign territory and the future of funds destined for Kiev.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, after his visits to Brussels and London on Monday, will visit Italy today.
The Ukrainian leader is expected to meet with Pope Leo XIV and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. According to the agenda, he will meet with the Pope at Castel Gandolfo at 9:30 a.m. He will then be received at Palazzo Chigi at 3:00 p.m.
A day earlier, Zelensky held a round of important talks in London with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French counterpart Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, to discuss the version of the peace plan proposed by the United States to end the war in Ukraine.
The joint meeting ended with photos outside the prime minister's office in Downing Street, then Macron and Merz left, while Starmer and Zelensky continued with bilateral talks.
Together, the leaders discussed security, air defense, military aid and long-term financing for Ukraine, sought by Kiev to ensure that any peace deal does not leave the country vulnerable.
After the meetings in London ended, Zelensky flew to Brussels, where he had a closed-door meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, EC President Ursula Von Der Leyen, and European President Antonio Costa.
Zelenskyy has announced that the diplomatic focus for this week will be "security, air defense and long-term funding" for Ukraine's aid and resistance.
