"Unity is essential," Zelensky's message after meeting with

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a high-level meeting today with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, where the central topic was diplomatic coordination with the US, security guarantees for Ukraine, and post-war reconstruction.

Zelensky described the meeting as a key moment for consolidating Euro-Atlantic unity in relation to the war in Ukraine, personally thanking the leaders for their continued commitment and support. “What is essential today is unity between Europe and Ukraine, as well as unity between Europe, Ukraine and the United States,” the Ukrainian president said.

In his statement after the meeting, Zelensky said the discussions included:

-a joint diplomatic approach with the US for a political solution to the conflict,

-strengthening security guarantees for Ukraine in the long term,

-as well as coordinated steps for the economic and infrastructural reconstruction of the country.

There was also a separate discussion on further military support, a critical issue for the continuation of Ukrainian resistance on the front.

Zelensky praised the commitment of the three European leaders and underlined the importance of their personal role in moving towards peace: "I am grateful for their willingness to stand with the Ukrainian people. This is a strong signal to Russia and to the world."

The meeting comes at a delicate moment for Western diplomacy, as aid to Ukraine in the US Congress faces domestic political challenges, while the EU is struggling to maintain cohesion among member states over financial and military aid.
