Elections in Hungary/ First exit polls published, Orbán falls; Tisza wins

The first exit polls have been released after polling stations closed in Hungary. Two Hungarian media polls predict a landslide victory for the opposition Tisza party, led by Péter Magyar, potentially toppling incumbent Prime Minister Viktor Orbán after 16 years in power.

According to the average projection of polls published before the election: Tisza is expected to win around 57% of the vote and 135 out of 199 seats in parliament.

Another specific projection from the 21 Research Center (21 Kutatóközpont) puts Tisza at 55% of the vote and 132 seats in parliament.

The poll suggests Orbán's party is heading for 37.1% of the vote, and 21 Research Centre gives Fidesz 38%.

For comparison, in the last elections in 2022, Orbán's Fidesz party won exactly 135 seats, securing an absolute majority.
